Greenie Linux XP like is Ubuntu with an XP-theme.
Greenie Linux XPlike Edition is a special edition of the Greenie Linux distribution that integrates the powerful Wine application for ex-Windows users who want to use Linux, but need to run certain applications that have been designed only for the Microsoft Windows operating system. It is based on Lubuntu and uses the LXDE desktop environment.
It’s distributed as a dual-arch Live CD
The XPlike edition of Greenie Linux has been designed from the ground up to be simple, to include only the necessary tools for installing Windows apps on top of a Linux kernel-based operating system, which means that it’s distributed as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image that supports both 32-bit and 64-bit computers.
Boot menu à la Lubuntu Linux
Being based on Lubuntu, this Greenie Linux flavor uses its Live CD boot menu, which will allow you to try the operating system without installing anything on your computer, perform a memory test, start the installer directly, verify the integrity of the bootable medium (only if using a CD disc) or boot an existing OS from the first disk drive detected by the BIOS.
Looks exactly like any of the other Greenie Linux editions
The bad thing about Greenie Linux XPlike Edition is that it uses exactly the same desktop layout and artwork as any of the other Greenie Linux editions, based on the lightweight LXDE graphical desktop environment. This means that this flavor is not unique and it might be confused with other Greenie Linux editions.
Allows users to install and run Windows applications
On the other hand, the unicity of Greenie Linux XPlike Edition consists of its ability to allow users to install and run applications that have been designed only for the commercial Microsoft Windows operating system. For this task, it comes pre-loaded with the highly acclaimed and award-winning Wine application, as well as Winetricks.
Includes standard open source apps for everyday use
Default applications include the Transmission BitTorrent client, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, Mozilla Firefox web browser, AbiWord word processor, mtPaint graphic editor, PCManFM file manager, Leafpad text editor, Audacious audio player, GNOME MPlayer video player, Xpad note-taking app, LXTerminal terminal emulator and Xfburn CD/DVD burning utility.
